Confined Space

Overview :

The Confined Space Entry Training Program offered at Arresting You Ltd. was developed from the following Alberta OHS 2009 Codes.

The premise of the program is training for workers who are responsible for the supervision of an entry as well as information for workers who will actually enter the confined space.

Specific topics of discussion include:

  1. Roles & Responsibilities (management, supervisor, tending worker, entrant)
  2. Hazard Assessment & Classification of Confined Spaces (Level 1,2,3)
  3. Atmospheric Testing
  4. Ventilation & Purging
  5. Isolations & Lockouts
  6. Communications
  7. Personal Protective Equipment
  8. Emergency Response Plan
  9. Entry Permit

Practical Exercises are used to assist the participants with planning, permitting, entry and safe evacuation. A sample rescue response plan deals with non- entry rescue and “fresh air” rescue to explain the potential complexities of a rescue from specific confined spaces.

The 50/50 Theory/Practical training program is accomplished in 6-8 hours. The program is limited to a maximum of 15 participants. A theory exam (pass mark 70%) and a hands-on skills evaluation (Pass/Fail) ensures that the candidate has the knowledge and has demonstrated the basic skill to plan an entry.
